^This guy says it best. If you think about it, sucking blood in general is kind of, well, you know… GROSS AND DISTURBING.
Just saying.
I’m a little sick of it too.
(Not Buffy of course, but the rest of it… you know)
Infamous twihard extraordinare, Emma Clark, better known as Nuttymadam3575 on Youtube, posted the above video yesterday, April 1st, 2010. She claims it to be an April Fool’s joke, but I can’t help but wonder if what she announced in it is true. Actually, no, scratch that — I really kind of think it is. She’s obviously a pretty good actress if this is all a joke anyway, and what she said about the reason she does what she does (fame, subscribers, etc.) seemed pretty genuine to me.
Joke or not, it was nice to hear.

The writer of this article, Hank Sartin, is definately anti.
He mostly talks about the lack of feminism in the series despite what Stephenie Meyer says.
He also touches briefly on the idea we were getting at two posts back with the adults reading kids’ books and about the influence of Harry Potter on the YA genre.
So nostalgia and escape are certainly part of the puzzle, but Twilight’s popularity also speaks to a rear-guard cultural movement, a conservative response to the radical changes in sexual politics of the last decade. Stephenie Meyer has claimed her books are feminist because they are about Bella making a choice, an assertion that would be laughable if so many people weren’t nodding in agreement. The Twilight novels espouse values more suited to 1809 than 2009: They offer up chaste romance with an ideal man, initially mysterious and menacing, who eventually confesses his love for the heroine and protects her from his own unruly desires—and from evil men who want to ravage her (or “suck her blood”). Feminist? Hardly. The Twilight series aims to clean up the sloppy excesses of grrrl-power feminism. It teases readers and viewers with the prospect of burgeoning teen sexuality only to cap it with an abstinence-only message coded through vampirism. As Edward warns, there’s no safe sex when he could lose his precarious control of his urges at any moment. So, one supposes, heavy petting is out, too. How much fun can it be to live as an immortal playboy when you can’t even get to second base?
It’s an interesting article, kinda ranty, but if you want to read more: click here.

Creation is launching a 20-date series of TWILIGHT conventions, writes Geoff Boucher at the LA Times:
The three-day weekend fan conventions will tour around the country and internationally over the next three years, with 20 stops already announced and one scheduled in the Southland at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel on March 12-14, 2010.“Twilight” fans will have the chance to meet and get up-close and personal with “Twilight” cast members, including Kellan Lutz (Emmet Cullen) and Ashley Green (Alice Cullen), with additional guests to be announced. No word on whether Robert Pattinson (who plays Edward Cullen), Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) or Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black) will show up yet.
The conventions will feature exclusive footage sneak-peaks, panel discussions, photo opportunities, contests and parties. There will also be wine and cheese parties for the actors and nine fans lucky enough to win an auction for the private event.
It’s a clever move on Creation’s part. The idea is to lure the rabid fans of the Vampire Romance series into their own containment area so that their cooties will not spread to other, healthy fandoms. Once in lockdown, the Twilighters can be isolated and subjected to reprogramming so that they won’t bother us any more.
Sounds to me like the writer of this article is an anti. =)

Take a close look at the picture to the left? Can you make out the “Team Jacob” and “Team Edward” carvings in the corn fields? The corn art comes from Black Island Farms in Syracuse, Utah in tribute to the November 20th release of “New Moon.” The farmers have made the art into a maze encouraging guests to make their way from one side to the other. The Black Island Farmers say, “If you’re really good, you can get through the main maze in about an hour.” What’s the craziest thing you’ve done to show your excitement for the movie?
Okay, WTF??? A freaking MAZE? This is just ridiculous.
This gives getting lost in Edward or Jacob a whole new meaning…
