Infamous twihard extraordinare, Emma Clark, better known as Nuttymadam3575 on Youtube, posted the above video yesterday, April 1st, 2010.  She claims it to be an April Fool’s joke, but I can’t help but wonder if what she announced in it is true.  Actually, no, scratch that — I really kind of think it is.  She’s obviously a pretty good actress if this is all a joke anyway, and what she said about the reason she does what she does (fame, subscribers, etc.) seemed pretty genuine to me.

Joke or not, it was nice to hear. :)

True Story

twimoms

From “Sorry, ‘Twilight’ fans, some experts say vampire love isn’t healthy” article on Kansascity.com:

There are moments in the books that are troubling even to those who enjoyed the series.

One is about a character named Sam who, when he was turning into a werewolf, loses control and hurts Emily, the young woman he desires. Later, he apologizes profusely. She forgives him because he was out of control and didn’t mean to hurt her. The two get together, but Emily is left scarred forever.

If you subtract the werewolf element, such scenarios sound all too familiar to experts such as Mitru Ciarlante, the youth initiative director for the National Center for Victims of Crimes in Washington, D.C.

“This pattern of the ‘werewolf’ losing control sounds like a dynamic we’ve heard in abusive relationships,” Ciarlante said. Stalking is also “very much an element in teen relationship abuse and a precursor to sexual violence.”

Suzanna Narducci, a co-founder of TweenParent.com, a Web site for parents of 9- to 13-year-olds, said she wouldn’t forbid kids from reading the books or seeing movies, although she admits that when Bella makes a choice about college, “that killed me,” and the relationship between Sam and Emily “reeked of domestic violence.”

“It’s a matter of using it as a teachable moment,” Narducci said. “Romance means something so different for them. It’s important for parents to use it as an opportunity to have an open dialogue about what romance is like and about the difference between fantasy and reality.”

Read the whole article here and here (page two).

It focuses more on the Sam/Emily relationship, but it offers some insight on why people like it and concerns about whether this should be okay or not.

It also helps that the writer of the articles seems to reside in Connecticut, like me, Lizzy. I guess smart people live here? =P

Thanks to Jamie (JaToTheMe) for the tip!

The Vatican has blasted New Moon, calling it “deviant” and a “moral vacuum”.

The Twilight sequel, which hits cinemas this weekend, has been criticised by the governing body of the Roman Catholic Church for its supernatural references.

“This theme of vampires in Twilight combines a mixture of excesses that, as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element,” complained the Vatican’s culture council leader, Monsignor Franco Perazzolo.

He added, “This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern.”

The Vatican’s stance comes as something of a surprise as they have softened their stance on certain blockbusters recently – approving the most recent Harry Potter film and calling the sequel to The Da Vinci Code “harmless entertainment”.

Um… Wow.

The twihards are all pissed, but still.
Score 1 for the Pope?

Creation is launching a 20-date series of TWILIGHT conventions, writes Geoff Boucher at the LA Times:

The three-day weekend fan conventions will tour around the country and internationally over the next three years, with 20 stops already announced and one scheduled in the Southland at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel on March 12-14, 2010.

“Twilight” fans will have the chance to meet and get up-close and personal with “Twilight” cast members, including Kellan Lutz (Emmet Cullen) and Ashley Green (Alice Cullen), with additional guests to be announced. No word on whether Robert Pattinson (who plays Edward Cullen), Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) or Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black) will show up yet.

The conventions will feature exclusive footage sneak-peaks, panel discussions, photo opportunities, contests and parties. There will also be wine and cheese parties for the actors and nine fans lucky enough to win an auction for the private event.

It’s a clever move on Creation’s part. The idea is to lure the rabid fans of the Vampire Romance series into their own containment area so that their cooties will not spread to other, healthy fandoms. Once in lockdown, the Twilighters can be isolated and subjected to reprogramming so that they won’t bother us any more.

Sounds to me like the writer of this article is an anti. =)

…aaahhh…?!

As for the second thing… click at your own risk. There are pictures. Edward’s you-don’t-wanna-know-what.

I felt dirty clicking that. Even dirtier reposting it.

Just…

Ugh.

Ugh.

Ugh.

Just so… ew.

Thanks to Twilightsucks! and The Anti-Twilight Movement for the news.

Nuttymadam3575, a very devoted Twilight fan has just been fired from her job. Because of this, she is now in a physical and emotional crisis. As she explains in the above video, she now can no longer do many things we take for granted, such as travel, upload videos, or even live in her house. For most antis, Nuttymadam is psychotic entertainment. Recently though, we’ve been seeing a different, more open-minded side of her. She is a fan of Buffy, Supernatural, Friends, Scrubs, and even Harry Potter. In one video, she called Edward a poof, and in another she said that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie was better than the Twilight movie. She’s become more than just a screaming robot. She’s a real human being, experiencing something most people can relate to but hope that they will never experience. Right now, she’s not Nuttymadam — right now she is Emma Clark and she needs help. That’s why fans and antis alike are joining together to save her.

Here’s how you can help:

Please go to this link to find out how you can help. As Mars Defden (creator of Twilightsucks.com) and many antis agree, this is a time to show that though we disagree with her point of view, we can still band together to help out a person in need.

You don’t have to donate, but sympathy and awareness is probably appreciated in a time like this. If you can spare some money or time to spread the word, it’s the right thing to do.

Thank you.

Just sad.

How is edward cullen abusive …from twilight…explain hater?

So, everyone says edward cullen is abusive, and it makes me so sad, I almost cry, and several times I have cried. Because edward wouldn`t in A MILLION YEARS EVER LAY A HAND ON BELLA, and that is what abuse is so how is he abusive. I wouldn`t care if my boyfriend watched me well I sleep, it just means he always wants to be with her, and he is overprotective because bella is like a speck of dust in edwards world, so he cannot have anything happen to her, she is a beautiful, elegant breakable piece of fine china. please explain twilight haters, how can the most amazing man in the world be abusive. I`m crying as I write. litterlly I am clutching twilight between my legs and crying, my eyes are so swollen because of the vampire stinging tears…I have tried several times to try and turn my self into a vampire, I have looked on every website and done every ritual, and still am not reunited with edward, SO EXPLAIN OK CUZ MY BODY TINGKES EVER TIME I TALK ABOUT THIS AMAZING MAN , YOU IDIOTS
